Cases involving allegations of domestic violence—one of my areas of concentration while a prosecutor—are always complex. Most commonly, they involve two individuals who share a home, sometimes share children and in certain circumstances still have love for the other individual or remember when things were better. Due to the complex nature of these cases, the Commonwealth prepares itself by using victim advocates and specially trained prosecutors who know how to investigate and prepare their cases. When I was a prosecutor, I ended my career as the captain of the unit that prosecuted sexual assault and domestic violence cases.
